A Twisted Kind of History

I was watching the History Channel and stumbled upon a program about Presidential assassinations and assassination attempts. Of course, one of the stories profiled was that of John Hinkley Jr.. A pretty interesting case, if youre not familiar, Hinkley attempted to assassinate then president, Reagan, in order to attempt to impress the young Jodie Foster. I didnt even realize the connection to the movie Taxi Driver, which stared Jodie, until they mentioned it. If you havent seen it, you must, its now an American Classic.

Anyway, they quoted Hinkley as saying that his goal was to make for himself a twisted kind of history. Then they proceeded to say that he must have been disappointed in his failure to do so since he didnt kill Reagan. Now, maybe its just me, but he DID make for himself a twisted kind of history! Otherwise, he wouldnt be the subject of numerous books, studies, FBI profiles, History Channel programs, and articles!

Dont you love obvious irony of American media and the unsuccessful successes of career sociopaths?
