Just say 'Thank You'

Why do we still have public services? Hasn't the corporate-owned media done a good enough job of convincing us that privatization of basic services is necessary?

Why do we still have all these fire-stations with fire-fighters loitering around? Seems like a waste of labor and manpower to me. I think we should go back to the time when you had to have the medallion of a particular fire company bolted to your house in order to get firefighting service. You should have to pay a company. It's good for the economy!

Doesn't city water seem a bit gross? Couldn't it be cleaner if we handed over control of treatment and service to a private corporation? I mean, they're designed to help others, not maximize profit and profit potential. They're more concerned with the public welfare than they are with cutting costs. You should have to pay a company for water service. It's good for the economy!

Those pesky transportation services! Always keeping traffic held up and never on-time. I'm sure that utilizing private transportation services (which have never made profits) would be great since the price of tickets and fare would go down. Right? Oh wait ... I have that backwards ... but still ... companies have a RIGHT to make money off of public transportation. It's good for the economy!

And the schools. Oh, the schools! What are we to do? The damned bureaucracy makes it impossible to get changes made. Plus, it's good that corporations to have a say and control of education. They could save us money AND sell products to our children through outsourcing contracts. I think my kids should have Taco Bell for lunch and Houghton Mifflin advertisements on the walls. And why are we paying teachers so much?

Obviously privatization holds the answer. I mean, if it supports capitalism ... and the economy ... we don't need to question it, just say thank you.
